Katsuo has a bit of a sister complex towards Ryoko (albeit it’s a lot more subtle than some of the famous examples), and as a result, his attitude towards her is more complicated than his attitude towards anyone else. Though he’s submissive in general, he’s more subservient to Ryoko, while he still maintains a teasing nature that doesn’t come out around other people.
On occasion, an enchanter’s blood will have special qualities; in Katsuo’s case, his has a tendency to form empathic bonds, meaning that if he works with another’s person’s blood, he’ll be able to feel their emotions and physical pain afterwards. There are only two people this has ever happened with, the first being his uncle and the second being Ryoko.
For this reason, he refuses to work with other’s blood while making enchantments (he’ll still use his or Ryo’s). He pretty much experienced his uncle’s death, after all, so he’s reluctant to put himself in a situation where that can happen again.
His and Ryo’s connection goes both ways, albeit it’s stronger on his end since Ryoko can only feel his emotions and nothing physical. She’s also unaware that this is a thing and has always just chalked it up to them being close.

Enchantments are something that one with the skill can do almost anything with if they’re good at it; all they require is a medium to channel through, which includes metal, paper, or anything else that can be drawn or carved on.
Katsuo himself has always been somewhat of a prodigy in the trade, having been taught all sorts of things by his uncle. He’s been able to make almost anything he’s attempted to, and these range from elemental affinities on weapons, to transport enchantments on items, to exploding paper tags.
Along with common enchantments, there are also much stronger ones known as the Seven Sacred Heart Seals, or the Seven Seals; legend has it that an enchanter is born with the innate ability to use these, but they must be drawn out through years of hard work. They’re practically forbidden from being learned, though, as the process put a tremendous amount of stress on the enchanter, and more often than not can lead to death.
However, Katsuo has learned how to use one of them, the Seal of Self, which allows him to replicate himself up to seven times with each doppelganger keeping the same amount of power his original body has, although he can only hold it up to a minute at a time and he’s exhausted afterwards. While in use, latent patterns on his hands and arms glow yellow along with his eyes.
